Family Visiting Marystown this Summer

From what I've been told there are a couple of you visiting us here in Marystown this summer. Namely, Pat who will be here for the month of August. He is coming to cash in on the food fishery. It will run from the last week of July until August 19, I believe. It also runs for one week later on in September. I will not likely partake. I like the fish but am not all that enthused about going out to catch it. Since you are only allowed 5 fish it is cheaper to buy a few pounds of fillets. Less hassle, cleaner and doesn't take near the time.

Also I hear that Brian, Josie and Julie will be visiting - not sure when but I believe it may be the first two weeks of August. Someone can correct me on that. Not sure if there are any others that will be visiting. Other than Cheryl who will be home from July 7 -15 for a visit.

Also you may be interested to know that the fishplant in Marystown will be up and running again tomorrow. Alv went back to work last Monday to help get things ready for the startup this week. Bernadette and Boyd are returning tomorrow morning(June 25) for the first time in about 18 months. They are looking forward to getting back to work. Do hope things work out with the plant!

All for now.

Hello again

Hi Again:
I haven't posted in a while as I have been quite busy the past while. Besides taking on a new job recently at Keyin Technical College in Marystown I am Chairman of the Grande Meadows Men's Tournament Committee. I spent quite a lot of time organizing our Annual Men's Invitational held June 8-10. We had quite a turnout with over 90 golfers from across the province participating. Everything went really well as we all enjoyed three great days of golf and fellowship. I did reasonably well and finished second in my division - good enough for $125 gift certificate at the Pro Shop.
Gladys and I have booked a couple of weeks visiting family in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland. We will stay a few days with Kevin and Diane, then move on to Kentville to stay a few days with Gladys's sister Sandra and her family. From there we will spend a few days with Gerard and Kathy in Dartmouth. We will cross back to spend a couple of days with Gladys's sister Mary and her husband Lem in Pasadena. We leave home on July 22 and get back on August 4. It should be a nice couple of weeks. We are looking forward to it.
Not much other news. We just had some company as Gladys's nephew Mark, his wife Amelie, and their two children, Charlie and Clhoe were visiting from British Columbia. It was Mark's first visit in 15 years while it was the first time on the Burin Peninsula for Amelie and the children.
Took mom to visit the eye specialist in St. John's on Monday. He didn't see any change in her eye from last visit. She has another scheduled for March 17. I don't think there is anything he can do for her eye. I recently had an appointment with an eye specialist and he says I have the beginnings of macular degeneration. As of right now there isn't anything that can be done for it except to take some multivitamins which may slow down the rate of degeneration. As it is it will be a long time before it gets much worse.
Will write again soon.
