It is with a lot of sadness I pen this little note to honour Cheryl on what would have been her 50th birthday. She was for 50 years ago today at around 1:30am at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital in St. John's, NL.
She certainly provided her mother, Gladys and I with plenty of great memories which certainly helps us get through each day. They bring a smile or a tear or both at the same time.
We couldn't have asked for a better daughter or a better person so share our lives with. We didn't have too many issues to deal with in her lifetime other than trying to get her to not put so much pressure on herself. She managed to get through high school and her university years at the top of her class - something she strived for and worked to achieve. But I think that she learned a lot especially at Dalhousie during her undergrad degree and began to socialize a little more. She was especially good at making friends and once you were her friend you were a friend for life.
Once she settled away in at McMillan in Toronto she did in my opinion spend a little too much time working. However, she did make time for friends and socializing. Everytime we would visit her in Toronto we would be included in some of her social gatherings with her friends. We did get to meet so many of her friends whom we are still in contact with throughout the years. Hearing from them once in a while helps us through the difficult days - it's been almost 6 years now since she has been gone. Thank you all!
Of course her extended family have been a great source of comfort for us too. She is always thought of during gatherings and we still hear from all of them on special occasions. From the extended Stacey and Brennan families to the Barlows to Greg, Sarah and Chelsea we thank you all for remembering Cheryl. She was always afraid of being forgotten - I don't think that will happen in our lifetime.
It as just 10 short years ago that we held a get together to celebrate Cheryl's 40th birthday at the common room of her condo on Scrivener Square. Below is a link to the photos we took during that little celebration and you can see yourself in some of the photos looking 10 years younger than now! Enjoy

As well I should mention that Nora, Evelyn and Rosalie are no longer with us and we remember them too.
A few flashback photos through the years! Enjoy
