Northern Peninsula of Newfoundland

Hi everyone:
Just a little note about a short trip Gladys and I took last week to the Northern Peninsula of the province. I had not been off the Trans Canada from Deer Lake to go north before and she hadn't been past Gros Morne so we went right to the top - St. Anthony.
The scenery is beautiful up there and there are some cool things to do. We visited the first Viking settlement in North America at L'anse Aux Meadows, went to Englee which is Boyd's home town. He was there visiting his family when we went. It is a very nice little fishing community. As well we went on a boat tour of Western Brook Pond which is 16 km long and takes you right into this deep fiord. We also took in a couple of theatre productions at Gros Morne and visited the Insectarium in Deer Lake. I even found time to get in a little golf.
Below are some photos we took during that trip - I even got Gladys to make a few putts. She drove the cart for me. There is one photo of Gladys with Boyd, his brother Winse and brother-in-law Grant taken at the St. Anthony lighthouse. One other is of Boyd and his brother Winse with two little native children one of Winse's daughters cares for during the day. They were taken from the mother and put in a foster home for the past year or so but they are due to go back soon.
Enjoy the photos.

Gerarda, Dean, and Mary Lou

Hi there:
Just a little note and a couple of photos of Gerarda, Dean and Mary Lou who were visiting with Dean's mother in St. John's and made a trip out to the Burin Peninsula. As you know right now they are situated in Doha in Quatar. Things are going really good for them and it looks like they will have another few years there before heading back to North America.
Enjoy the photos.

Pat's 65th Birthday

July 18,2010

Pat celebrated his big day today with a little get together at Joan's house. We had a little barbecue, a couple of drinks and a few games of crib. Below are a few photos we took during the evening. On Saturday night Pat celebrated with his children and their families at Pamela's in Upper Gullies. I haven't seen any photos of the occasion but if there are any out there please pass them along to me.

I guess I should send along a belated Happy Birthday to Brian who celebrated, I think, on July 14. I am not sure of the number!!!

Enjoy.

Beginning of summer in Marystown

Hi everyone:
Sorry I haven't posted in a while but I have been busy with work and other things. Just excuses though. Since the weather is warming up I thought that I would update you on the past couple of months and let you know what may be happening in and around Marystown during July and August with regards to the Stacey's.
Gladys and I visited Cheryl in Toronto for a week from May 9 - 17. During that visit we managed to see all the crowd for a little while at least. We went for a short visit with Junior and Nora during which Pat and Evelyn came by too. We then went on to visit Brian, Josie and Julie the same evening. Lucy came downtown to visit us on Friday and we had lunch - she tried sushi. We finished off with a visit to the camp grounds where Terry King and Pat stayed for the long weekend. Bob came there to see us as he was working a fair bit while we were there. Everybody was looking good.
Nora was doing well but she had a little bit of a cold. Nora has her last treatment today so it would be nice if we all kept her in our thoughts and prayers. We want her to know that we are all praying for and wish her all the best. Stay tough and we know you are going to beat this. God Bless.
Cheryl was off to Turkey and Rome, Italy for a holiday the first couple of weeks in June. She had a great relaxing trip and came back eager to get back to work!! Ha!Ha! She sent some great photos and I'll post a couple.
Here is what I have heard of those in the Stacey clan who are coming to visit this summer and the dates. If I have made any erros I stand to be corrected.

1. Pat Arriving in Marystown July 4. He is driving down and Evelyn is flying in to St. John's on July 18 which also happens to be Pat's 65th birthday.
2. Terry King, Gayanne, Matt, Robert and the dog are supposed to be arriving on July 18. They will be here for a couple of weeks.
3. Kevin and Diane will be here from Moncton from July 24-31.
4. Tracey, Leo, Josh and Emma Hynes from Medicine Hat will be here on August 2 and I am not sure about the length of their stay.
5. I have heard that Lucy is coming for a visit on Aug 2 but I haven't heard anything official yet.
6. Cheryl is coming for a week from Aug 22-29. Her friend Nicole who has never been to NL is supposed to coming for a visit that week too. We are looking forward to having her visit as she is very nice to us anytime we are in Toronto.

If I have left anyone out that you may know of who is visiting, please drop me a line or give me a call. From time to time I have been know to make an odd mistake.

I am going to post a few photos that we took while in Toronto, a couple of Cheryl's vacation as well as a couple of Tracey's two children, Josh and Emma. Enjoy and we look forward to seeing all of you who will be visiting throughout the summer.

Regards.
Barry
