The Frews - Cheryl's and our friends in Toronto

Hey all:

We are very happy to finally have been able along with the remainder of our family meet all of Nicole's family during our visit. We have had many visits with Nicole's mom, Karen but this is the first time we met her brother, Scott and his fiance, Nikki as well as her aunt Rosalie. We were so happy that they were all able to make our little get together.

Scott and Nicole are big sports fans and I have chatted back and forth via email for a few years with Scott so it was great to meet him and chat. Hopefully we'll be able to do it more in the future. We are happy that Cheryl was fortunate enough to meet Nicole and to have her family make her feel so welcome especially since she is far from home here. We know that they are always there for her.

It is great to talk sports with them - both Nicole and Scott are big Maple Leaf fans and don't particularly like the Bruins. It's over isn't it! The Bruins won!! Damn, it's going to be a long summer!

Dinner at Cheryl's Toronto

Hey again:

Greg and Cheryl barbecued chicken kabobs, potatoes and asparagus for us one night before we came back and it was so good that I figured I would post some photos of it to just make your mouth water. That boy sure can barbecue and we are looking forward to him doing some of the same while here in Newfoundland this summer.

I also included a few photos taken that evening while waiting for dinner and a couple of my favourite viewing area from the deck - the Toronto Lawn Tennis Club. Great place to relax, eh!

Toronto 2011 Sports Edition

Hey there:

What would a trip to Toronto be without some sporting activity for me! My brother Brian, Greg and I took in a round of golf at the Royal Woodbine Golf Club out near Pearson Airport. It was a beautiful afternoon and we had a great time. As you can see from some of the shots Brian and Greg did manage to find some sand and deep rough but for the most part came away unscathed. Greg was the big hitter on the day making a couple of birdies.

Myself, Cheryl, Greg and Nicole took in a Memorial Cup game between the Kootenay Ice and St. John's Sea Dogs - eventual Memorial Cup Champions. It was a very good game with the Ice winning 4 - 3 in overtime. The Ice are in white in the photos but the guy to keep an eye on is #11 from St. John, Hubertdeau who should be a first round NHL pick this year. Also you can see the Ice celebrating the winning goal right in front of us. Great game!

To finish off our sporting week, Gladys, Cheryl, Nicole and I took in a Blu Jays game against the Cleveland Indians at the Skydome in which the Jays won 11 - 1. It was a fun experience even if there weren't many fans taking in the game. We had hoped that Jose Bautista would hit a home run so we took some photos every time he came up but to no avail. We did get some closeup photos of Jays mascot, Ace who put on a little show right in front of us. As well included there is a photo of the Skydome with the roof open and one of the CN Tower at night.

Toronto 2011 Other Photos

Hi there:

These are a few photos that may not fit into any of the above categories but that I thought may be worth the effort to upload. Some were taken at Cheryl's place, a few on an afternoon walk we took in the downtown area. There are a couple of the U of T Law School where Cheryl took us on a visit to see the law school where she studied. The church is located on the site of Trinity College which is a dorm for the U of T Law School - I think!
