Today we are in Rhodes, a Greek island that has about 120,000 people living here with about half in the town of Rhodes. Again there are some ancient ruins here but we won't be visiting them today. We will go into walk around the part of town that has a wall around it from centuries ago. There are a couple of other cruise ships here to it will probably be busy again today.
We went ashore and walked inside the walled area of the city. Most of the area now is designed to get tourists to spend their money. There are lots of shops selling souvenirs as well as restaurants galore offering all kinds of Greek cuisine. The city itself seems like a mixture of what Athens and Mykonos has but most of the streets inside the walled in area are made of some kind of rock. Some of the walking areas are made from individual beach rocks.
We spent a couple of hours inside doing some exploring, a little shopping as well as visiting the local agricultural museum. Indeed an interesting little side trip.
A lovely dinner of braised salmon followed by cherries jubilee for me and short ribs and a domestic & imported cheese platter for Gladys we went to the top deck to check the sunset. It didn't disappoint as you can see from the photos below which I had to include. Our ship was heading directly into the sunset.
Off to Santorini Tomorrow. We have to be on the go at 8:00 to catch out excursion.
Panoramic view of the city from the cruise ship.

Beautiful. A bit more color here and some interesting architecture. It looks like a beautiful area to explore. Try any of the Greek food?
That sunset is breathtaking - I can only imagine what it was like in person! Enjoy Santorini!!
