Sunday May 4
Glasgow (Greenock), Scotland
Today we arrived in the port town of Greenock in Scotland at around 8:00am. The weather was sunny but cool with a temperature of 5C. It warmed up as the day went on and was around 13C this afternoon.
The ship docks in Greenock and we took a train from there to Glasgow. It's about 25 miles away and took about 40 minutes to reach there. We went along with Terry & Valerie Barron as well as Valerie's cousin & husband Neil. Once we arrived in Glasgow Valerie & Neil went off exploring on their own while the 4 of us took a hop-on hop-off bus tour around Glasgow for an hour an a half. It showed us many of the sites around Glasgow. We took some photos from the bus as well as some from walking around the downtown area of Glasgow. As with all the European places we have been there is lots of old architecture which is interspersed with some modern too.
We stay overnight here at this port and the plan is to look around Greenock sometime tomorrow before we leave here at 5:00pm for a day at sea before our final port of call in the British Isles, Lerwick.
I'll start off with a few photos of dinner. Tonight I had trout while Gladys had New York Stirloin steak and our waiter Jorge brought us another steak from the chef that was on risotto. I ate the steak and Gladys most of the risotto. It was all so good. For dessert Jorge had us a Happy Anniversary chocolate type cake which we managed to finish off between the two of us. We were just too full to order any other dessert although they wanted us too. :-)
After dinner we went to the Sky Lounge on Deck 14 for an after dinner drink before the show at 9:00 which was Jon Courtney who won British Got Talent as a comedian and singer. He was very good. After the show we went to Deck 3 to listen to a band there - easy listening and good for a few dances.
It all looks so good and tastes even better.
Photo with our anniversary dessert!
I'm not sure what it was called but it was very good.
Relaxing in the sky lounge after dinner.
