Few Memories of Summer

Hey Again:

Summer has come and gone. We've had lots of company which we like. It's so good to see those of you who come back to visit. Remember that you are always welcome here and come again soon.

Our summer began with Cheryl coming for a visit the first week of July. We stayed in around St. John's for a couple of days and visited the Southern Shore - Ferryland, Cape Broyle, Aquaforte, etc - for the first time. I know some people from that way and I played a lot of softball against teams from there but hadn't ever drove up there. Very nice scenery. We had a great visit and it's always nice to have Cheryl here for a visit.

From the last week of July to the last week of August, we had plenty of visitors including Pat and Evelyn from Toronto. While they were here, Randy and his girlfriend Kim; Colin, Stephanie and their children Hope and Jenn; Pamela and her children Devon and Catherine visited for a while too. Great to see all of them together.

While they were here, Kevin, Diane, Cory, Matt and Adam along with Adam's girlfriend Kristine visited. It sure was nice to see all three of those boys - men now - here again at the same time. Although they have grown up and it's been a long time since they have been here they haven't forgotten some things - like bingo!!! Come again soon!

Junior and Nora came for a couple of weeks. It was nice to see them and they enjoyed themselves too but it seems like Nora vanished whenever the camera came out. I don't have even one photo of Nora. If anyone out has one please forward it to me. Otherwise I'll have to scan an older photo that I have.

Along came Tracey, Leo, Josh and Emma for a couple of weeks. It was nice to see Josh and Emma. As you can see Emma is a little cutie and Josh is growing up pretty fast. I think Josh is more like Tracey while Emma is more like Leo - not necessarily in looks but personality. Great kids!!

Last but not least, Lucy came and at the moment is still here. As you all may or may not be aware, Lucy celebrated her 60th birthday August 4. So I guess we'll have to celebrate with her while she's here.

Gladys and I are heading out this Saturday, Sept 6 on our European Vacation. We fly to Dublin Saturday and join a tour for the first week. It ends Friday Sept. 12 and we fly to London that day for the next week. We'll be staying with Cheryl's friend Nicole in London and Cheryl is coming for that week so we are looking forward to the trip. Should be fun. We'll let you know how it goes when we get back.

Thank you all for visiting this summer and hope all goes well the fall. If you have any thing that you would like me to publish or photos please forward them to me. I would love to have them.
Below are a few of my pleasant memories of the summer. As you know what I publish here is for my side of the family. We also had some of Gladys's family visit this summer and one of her niece's, Renee was married so we had a busy summer.

Included is a photo of downtown St. John's. You should all try to visit there. Plus a photo of Cheryl with her two cousins, Kevin and Karen who call her Aunt Cheryl. As well there is a photo of Gladys's mother whom some of you ask about sometimes. One photo of Gerard and Pat was taken while Pat visited Gerard on his was down in July.

Enjoy!

Hynes's Visit to Marystown

Hey all:

Tracey, Leo, Josh and Emma visited Marystown from Medicine Hat, Alberta for a couple of weeks recently. They came back with Joan when she returned from her visit to the Hat.

Leo loves to get the kids back to St. Bernard's where they can be let loose to enjoy the beautiful outdoors to do things he did as a child growing up a typical Newfoundland outport community. Things like catching connors off the wharf, hiking on the beach or in the woods, taking a ride in a motorboat or picking wild blue berries. Just enjoying the wide open spaces, clean air and water without any of the stresses of city living. I think they had a good time and we look forward to seeing them in two years according to Tracey - maybe sooner if Leo has his way.

Below are a few photos to let you see how the kids are growing. Hopefully you'll all get to see them someday. I included one photo of Josh at goalie camp in Canmore, AB earlier this summer. As you can see he looks like he would be a good fit for the Montreal Canadiens when Carey Price retires. He sure looks good in red.

Cheers

Stacey Golf Outing at Grande Meadows

Hey there:

While Kevin, Diane and their family visited us this summer we set up a fun round of golf at beautiful Grande Meadows Golf Course in Frenchman's Cove. Myself, Kevin, Cory, Matt, Adam and his girlfriend, Kristine were divided up into two teams with total score deciding the winners. The 3 brothers set up the teams with me, Kevin and Kristine making up Team One while the boys made up Team Two.

The weather was great that day and a good time was had by all, at least all of Team One. As you can see from the scores posted below and the photos, it is clear to see who the Winners were.

Team One Score
Barry 40
Kevin 60
Kristine 61
Total 161

Team Two Score
Cory 49
Matt 65
Adam 69
Total 183

Adam & Kristine Screech-in

Hey again:

On the night before they left it was decided that we had to screech in Adam as he was the last of Kevin's boys to have not been screeched in. We also included Kristine as she is a CFA from St. John, NB.

Pat made sure we had a nice cod for the occasion and along with a little Newfie Screech we proceeded with our little initiation. As you can see from the photos below it was an enjoyable time for all of us.

Hope you all enjoy the photos.

Cheers
Barry

Kevin, Diane & Family Visit

Hi everyone:

Kevin, Diane, Cory, Matt, Adam and his girlfriend Kristine visited us last week. They spent some time here and some in the Golden Sands. While over here of course, Adam competed in the Tely 10, a 10 mile road race in St. John's and finished in second place.

They had a great vacation, they brought good weather with them for the week but unfortunately when they left they took the weather with them. It has rained every day since they left on Saturday. Oh well, hopefully Junior and Nora will bring it back when they come tomorrow.

Below are some photos taken during their trip. I have more to upload later including some about our little golf trip and a little screech-in we had. Stay tuned.

Cheers
Barry
