Merry Christmas From Marystown 2009

Hi all:

Here's to a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Propserous New Year in 2010. We do hope you all had a nice Christmas and didn't eat too much - at least we hope you enjoyed it!

All is well here in Marystown. Cheryl got home on Dec. 23 and returns to Toronto on Jan 3. We had dinner at home along with Mom, Joan and Tyler. Bernadette and Boyd spent Christmas in St. John's with Therese as she could only get a couple of days off work.

We had a green Christmas here for the first time in a few years. The weather is quite good with temperaturs hovering around the freezing mark. There is lots of company for us as most of Gladys's family are around the Marystown area for Christmas. So we will be visiting and they will stop by here too.

I hope all is fine with everyone and I look forward to hearing from you guys. Send some photos too. Below are some photos of our tree along with some of Mom, Joan and Tyler taken over the last couple of days.

Enjoy.

Cheers,

Barry

Summer Reflections!

Hey Guys:

Sorry, I haven't posted in a while but it seems like I never have time. Too busy working all the time. Those are just excuses though. I just get too lazy and needed a little prompting. I got that from Elsie last weekend as her, Pam and Chrissy were home to Newfoundland to visit with Elsie's sister Sylvia who along with her husband Pete were celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. They stayed with us a couple of nights and she mentioned that I hadn't done anything with the blog in a while. It got me to thinking that on my next day off I would put something together about our summer. So thanks Elsie and here goes.

I've included some photos below that were taken during a visit home by Cheryl in the first week of July. We went to Terra Nova golfing with Cheryl's Uncle Jim and there are some photos of a trip we took to Grand Bank to see a sailing schooner, Bowdoin, that used to sail to the Arctic years ago. She has been redone and was doing the trip again this year. At that time she was on a tour around the province and was visiting Grand Bank. There is a photo of some guys from St. Pierre rowing in a dory. These guys row from St. Pierre to Grand Bank each year and they have a big celebration once they arrive. There are 18 rowers with 6 rowing at once with them switching every now and then. It takes about 10 hours to do it. Imagine Dad and Grandfather Cousins rowing from Lamaline themselves. The lighthouse is at the entrance to Grand Bank Harbour. As well as a few of Jr golfing at Grande Meadows during his and Nora's visit late July and early August.

As well some were taken at Junior and Nora's place as well as Cheryl's while we were in Toronto in August. Plus there are a couple of photos of Matt and Christina taken during their short visit to Marystown on Aug 10. They dropped down to Marystown on their way to a short vacation in Gros Morne Park on the northern peninsual of the province. From all reports they had a great time here and there. Matt is holding up a lunch we packed for them. Matt and Christina are living in Ottawa.

Here goes, I hope I didn't leave any out. Also since it is getting close to Christmas please forward
along any photos of your Christmas tree and any others that you would like to share. I'll promise to post as soon as I get them.
Take care and I hope all is well.

Colin's Daughter Hope

Hi there:
Below are some photo's of Colin's daughter Hope that were taken while on vacation at Golden Sands this summer in Burin, NL while the pics of her dancing to the music were taken at a bonfire near Lamaline. As you can see she is a little cutie with lots of energy. Gladys and I thinks she looks like her Aunt Pamela. As you may notice Colin is conspiciously absent from the photos so I assume that he was taking the photos!!! Include one of yourself and her next time so we can see if there is any resemblance!!!!
Thanks for sending the photos. Any others out there would be greatly appreciated. You may drop him a line at colinstacey@hotmail.com.
Cheers to all.
