October Visit to Marystown

Hi Everyone:

Just a note to tell you all about a short visit to Marystown recently by brother Pat, Gerard and Junior as well as Junior's wife Nora. Below is a short description of their visit as well as some photos.

First I should pass along condolences to Nora on the passing of her sister Pauline last week. Pauline battled cancer for about 2 and one half years and passed away on October 4th. She was just 49, however, she left an indelible mark on those around her. She always had time for others sometimes at the expense of herself. She leaves behind her husband Mike, daughters Rhonda and Pamela, son Jonathan as well as precious twin grandsons Aiden and Michael. As well she leaves 5 sisters including Nora, 3 brothers and her mother. God bless them all.
Pat and Gerard came to Marystown for a visit from Sept. 30 to October 9 while Junior was here from Oct. 5 - 9 as Nora came a little earlier to spend some time with her sister. It was great to see them here in Marystown and while here they were kept fairly busy - usually preparing something to eat or playing cribbage - as well as Pat trying to stock up on some items to take back to Ontario when he goes later in the month. He went back to Upper Gullies on the 9th with Gerard to spend some time with Pamela, Danny, Colin and his grandchildren. I think he is supposed to come back to Marystown fro a week before he leaves for Ontario.

The photos below were taken in Lamaline and Marystown. Those from Lamaline were taken one day we went to get some wrinkles. However, the tide didn't go out far enough so we came away with empty handed. While there Pat, Gerard and I along with Boyd took a few shots of the remaining foundation of the house we lived in back in the 1960's. On a little note related to that foundation, I was asked recently by someone who lived in the house previous to us if I had heard about a $50 gold coin being in the concrete foundation. Apparently he remembers being told that sometime over the past years. As a matter of fact his brother, who is Anglican bishop for Eastern NL, visited there last year to look at the foundation. They were wondering about who may own the land now. Some other photos were taken at dinner and a game of cribbage at my house while the others were taken during a Thanksgiving jiggs dinner at Joan's the day before all the company left to head back to their homes.

As well you may have noticed that I changed the outlook on the blog. I'll see what it looks like and maybe I'll hear what you think. Just click on the photo to see the other pictures.
Enjoy the photos and I hope everything is well with you all.

Cheers,
Barry
